Rokt announces new CTO: After dream jobs at Amazon and Apple, James Wilson is homeward bound
“When Sydney software engineer James Wilson emigrated to Silicon Valley eight years ago to fulfil his dream of working for Amazon and Apple, he thought he would never return to the country of his birth.
At Apple, he rose through the ranks to be a senior software engineering manager overseeing 50 engineers developing Apple’s Mail, Contacts and Calendar apps on iOS, working on projects that have helped keep the company at the forefront of consumer data privacy.
Before that at Amazon, he led a global organisation of engineers and data scientists applying machine learning to network monitoring globally.
But now, at the age of 37, Wilson has decided to return home, taking up a Sydney-based role as the inaugural chief technology officer of Rokt, the digital marketing company backed by former Carsales chief Greg Roebuck, Lachlan Murdoch and the Paul Bassat-led Square Peg Capital.”
